What is hepatitis?
The word "hepatitis" means "an inflammation of the liver".
Depending upon what causes it, hepatitis can produce mild symptoms such as fever and vomiting as well as much more serious consequences such as jaundice, seen as yellowing of the skin and eyes. It can also rarely lead to liver failure and death.
Even people suffering mild forms of hepatitis may need to take up to a month off work to recover, which is one of the many reasons to seriously consider hepatitis vaccinations.
